Adequate fire safety equipment, instrumentation, and engineered services are required for protection of life, asset, environment, including operational continuity by avoidance of downtime lost to shutdown of facility during fire outbreak. Engine rooms of marine machineries are protected with aerosol fire suppression systems whether marine production platforms, cargo ships, ferry boats, flotillas, cruise ships, yachts, cargo ships and small boats. Intrinsically safe equipment with low tendency to produce sparks and high temperatures are the best options, while extrinsically safe equipment acts to check process risk thereby reducing fire risks, and hazards to As-Low-As-Reasonably-Possible (ALARP). Pre-engineered fire protection solutions are so effective due the packaged and automated nature of such helps in early fire response.
Accidents are generally sudden and unexpected occurrence that leaves one with undesired outcomes such as wounds or losses. Accidents could occur during construction and destruction activities, resulting in injury, mostly incurred by workers on the worksite
Safe Lifting Techniques, Safe Back!! We lift things several times daily, from a toothbrush in the morning to plates, bags, small children, big heavy boxes, and furniture, Lifting is such an integral part of everything we do that we tend to do it automatically, without thinking. And that’s when it can become a problem – suddenly we’ve lifted something and our back starts to hurt. Lifting things incorrectly can cause a variety of injuries to our back and other parts of our body. Back strain, caused by overstretching certain muscles, is the most common type of injury. Lifting incorrectly can also cause a hernia. These types of injuries can be worse if we’re not in good physical condition. Poor posture, lack of exercise, and stress, coupled with incorrect lifting, can be a hazardous combination.

The defunct Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System (OHSAS) is now replaced with ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS).
ODE is a rapidly growing company and one of its latest developments is a new 75,000 sqm facility, incorporating a 70,000 sqm manufacturing space at Eskisehir in northwest Turkey and is currently the world’s third-largest rubber foam manufacturing plant. The plant processes include extruded polystyrene thermal insulating materials, polymer-modified bituminous waterproofing blankets, glass wool products used for heat and sound insulation and fire safety, and elastomeric rubber foam insulating material. These processes involve combustible materials and part of the foam manufacturing process also includes ovens in which oils are heated to over 225° Celsius. Efficient fire precautions are of paramount importance. As Turkey’s fire regulations cover just a base level of protection, ODE sought advice from various professionals on full fire protection for the plant, including Johnson Controls.

Maintaining your life safety equipment is imperative to the safe and effective execution of fire rescue services. From standard cleaning requirements to decontamination procedures, it is important you know the best process for every type of equipment. All rope rescue and access equipment should be kept clean and free of dirt and grit to prevent wear that will reduce the strength, effectiveness, and service life. After the equipment has been cleaned, remember to re-label it as necessary and enter the date, cleaning method, and inspection data into a log. Safety Consultants recommends the following washing procedures.

Safety & Security Systems have different performance and functional benchmarks from the ordinary M&E service. Contracting the design and construction of these to a generalist M&E consultant or Contract often results to non-compliance to codes and standards resulting to escalated risk exposure. Major tenets of Safety and Security of occupants as mandated by the IBC Code and best practice guides are thus heavily compromised.
