RISING INSECURITY A SAFETY CONCERN

RISING INSECURITY:  A SAFETY CONCERN

For over a decade, Nigeria has been fraught with insecurity challenges. Gradually, Nigeria is notoriously known for the poor level of safety and security threats within its border.  This problem has gradually metastasised to most nooks and crannies of the nation as there is palpable fear in the land. It is a fact now that the issue of insecurity has invincible social and economic dimensions.   No day passes by without reports of wanton killings and attacks.  This menace seems to defy prolonged efforts aimed at addressing it.  Recent security breaches underscore the dire need for concerted and deliberate efforts coupled with a resolved commitment to fight our security woes.  Truthfully, insecurity is a global issue; it is not a Nigerian thing. However, what is important here is that this challenge is identified and tackled timely.

Insecurity is an undesirable situation for humanity. It can be likened to a terminal disease slowly eating its way into the system of the country and stifles development and constitute a hindrance to economic dimensions.  At Safety Consultants and Solution Providers (SCSP) we know that insecurity limits pursuit of happiness and interaction as it inhibits human activities and economic progress.  Rather than wring our hands in defeat, it is expedient that we do all it takes to change this tide.

On that premise, we implore Nigerian government to establish a full-fledged Border Security Force across our porous borders to tackle and restrict movement of undocumented people and the free flow of illicit arms into the country.  Also, there is need to do a root to branch reform of our security units. Major changes are needed.  We must reexamine the coordination and warfare mechanisms and how to effectively engage them. Our warfare and response to terrorism and security threats must be strategic and proactive. We must take the fight to unwanted elements amongst us. More so, we must leverage and invest heavily on technology to detect and crush criminal elements and networks. Our indigenous technology community offers digital solutions that can track criminals in their enclaves.  With obvious intelligence failures and gaps, Nigeria needs to reform its state apparatus for gathering, interpreting and actionable intelligence to wage a successful war against insecurity. Nigeria must also revamp and revisit the type of education and morals we are giving the younger generation as we must teach and engage them in sincere and productive ventures.  We strongly advocate for state policing and community security outfits for prompt and timely response and counter efforts.  Importantly, we call for provision of modern arms and ammunition for our security officers and a revamp of their welfare packages as a boost in fighting insecurity.

At Safety Consultants and Solution Providers (SCSP) we value lives and the promotion of economic prosperity and wellbeing. As such, we are committed to promoting safety and advocating on safe living as it is crucial requirement to a prosperous living. It is our mandate that security is maintained and upheld as a safety expectation
