SAFETY COMMENDATION
We are living in unprecedented and precarious time that is defined with puzzling uncertainties. Yet, there are people who take risk to provide safety and service to others. Sadly, there are so many jobs and sacrifices that go unnoticed or even unrewarded. It is a pitiful fact to say that we operate in a clime where heroic gestures or notable outstanding acts merit the corresponding accolades, or a heroic applause (that is if any is even given). Be that as it may, the unrelenting selfless spirit of some humane Nigerians is worth commending. Even in the midst of a decaying society, there are still good individuals. In our context, even in the midst of risk, or in the heat of danger, there is a residue of those who will against all odds choose the selfless path safety. Truthfully, without them, we won’t be able to go about our day to day lives as normal. There are the heroes who passionately have the extra strength to endure despite the overwhelming obstacles.
It is being said that safety does not happen by accident; someone must take responsibility even when it is not the easiest choice to make. On Friday June 10, 2022, a major fire disaster was averted in Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State when a driver of a petrol tanker drove his burning tanker to a safer place before it completely went up in flames. Mr Ejiro Otarigho demonstrated this feat. As simple and unrecognised as this act was interpreted, thousands of lives were saved from untimely being burnt with many livelihoods preserved.

Thank you for openly modelling corporate safety for all to emulate. Your quick but timely action helped prevent a major disaster that can only be imagined. Your action has made you a safety mentor to your co-workers. Certainly, it is people like you that give safety a place in our world today. We wish to let you know that your selfless act will live in the hearts of many forever.
