THE URGENT NEED FOR POLUTION CONTROL

In earlier days, environmental pollution was not so popular; in today’s clime, pollution is one of the biggest problems of the world. Since the industrial revolution, the problem of environmental pollution has become worse.  Almost everything in the world whether it is live or non living is getting polluted in some form or the other. Sadly, pollution is everywhere; from the highest reaches of our atmosphere to the darkest depth of our oceans. As such, it is no longer feasible to continue to ignore the alarming threats of pollution as the world before is the result of many wrong deeds of man towards the environment.

It is paradoxical that man who needs a healthy environment the most is the one destroying its sanctity and purity for momentary monetary gains even as he endangers unborn generations. Frantically, environmental pollution is not only humanity’s treason to humanity, but also treason to all other living creatures on earth. The human society has caused great pain to the earth in its selfish desire to meet its needs.  In that light, it rest on humankind to address this long – age injustice.

The earth is constantly being polluted in different ways; lakes, rivers, streams and oceans are poisoned with chemicals from factories, the air is polluted because of smoke and dirt, garbage is indiscriminately and illegally dumped everywhere, indiscriminate depletion of the natural life just to mention but a few. Interestingly, all of the gains of our progress have been to the detriment of the environment.

The consequences of environmental pollution is visible in severe. In recent times the world is grappling with and chronic deadly diseases; the destruction of aquatic life (both flora and fauna) has damaged the natural habitat of man and some precious irreplaceable wildlife as the world keeps getting warmer and hotter, continuous depletion of soil quality has greatly altered food production (quality and quantity), depletion of earth resources has resulted to deterioration of life cycle and expectancy and opened the door for other calamities like earthquakes, cyclones, flooding to wreck our world. Evidently, all of these have caused irreplaceable damage to humankind.

Responding to environmental pollution is a challenge that is solvable. First, public awareness on environmental pollution is a big boost. People must be made to see the bad side of environmental pollution. Awareness can bring changes in an individual’s mentality. It is also believed that raising public awareness on environmental pollution is a big boost especially to the younger generation. It will be easier to deal with the problem of environmental pollution if people are aware of it.  Also, participation in environmental activities (like tree planting, land reclamation and also adopting good practices like greener ways of environmental friendly living habits) may seem such a little effort but it makes a big difference as everyone needs to unite to save the environment.  The global problem of pollution can be controlled by collective efforts. The global problem of pollution can be controlled by collective efforts. Collectively, we should be part of the solution, not part of pollution as should responsible enough to do our part in order to curb this scourge.  More so, enforcement of environmental laws will help regardless of status or region. Swift actions backed by appropriate laws should be dispensed to curb and regulate indiscriminate and harmful practices so as to re-sanitize our world and send a message of our serious intentions. As such, authorities should offer legal and administrative support towards actualizing this vision.

As it stands, nature has given us everything; it is our turn to give back to nature. On our part as a safety brand, Safety Consultants and Solution Providers (SCSP) will not relent in our renewed vigor of advocating for a safe environment.
