SCSP Technical Director Antonia Beri Wins Leadership Commitment to Safety Engineering Award
The recognition at the maiden NISafetyE Safety Engineering Awards underscores a career dedicated to advancing safety engineering, professional leadership and safer built environments.
Safety Consultants and Solutions Provider Limited (SCSP) is proud to announce that its Technical Director, Engr. Antonia Beri, has received the D1 – Leadership Commitment to Safety Engineering Award at the maiden Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE) Safety Engineering Awards.
Presented as part of NISafetyE’s 2026 International Safety Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting, the awards recognise contributions to safety engineering, professional excellence and the advancement of safer workplaces and communities. The inaugural awards ceremony took place in October 2026, marking an important milestone in the recognition of leadership and achievement within Nigeria’s safety engineering profession.
For SCSP, this recognition is significant not only as a professional milestone for our Technical Director, but also as an affirmation of the leadership, expertise and commitment required to make safety an integral part of engineering and infrastructure development.
A Recognition of Leadership in Safety Engineering
Safety engineering requires more than technical knowledge. It calls for sound judgement, professional accountability and the ability to influence decisions that protect people, assets and the environments in which they live and work.
The D1 – Leadership Commitment to Safety Engineering Award recognises the importance of leadership in advancing these principles. NISafetyE’s published award criteria identify safety leadership, organisational influence and improvements to safety culture as key considerations in this category.
Antonia’s recognition reflects the importance of having experienced technical leaders who can bring safety considerations into critical conversations, challenge assumptions and help translate engineering expertise into practical outcomes.
At SCSP, this philosophy informs our approach to safety engineering: identifying risks, strengthening safeguards and helping clients make decisions that support safer, more resilient operations.
Taking the Building Safety Conversation Beyond Compliance
This recognition follows another important industry engagement for Antonia. At Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2026, held at the Landmark Centre in Lagos from 22 to 24 September, she participated in the panel discussion “Ensuring Compliance and Preventing Building Collapse in Nigeria.” The session brought together built-environment professionals to examine the causes of building collapse and the practical measures needed to strengthen compliance and safety.
The discussion addressed a critical challenge for Nigeria’s built environment: building safety cannot be secured through regulation alone. It also depends on the quality of design and execution, effective oversight, professional responsibility and the consistent application of engineering judgement.
Antonia’s participation reflects SCSP’s commitment to contributing technical expertise to conversations that shape industry practice. It also reinforces the importance of treating safety as a shared responsibility across the development process—from planning and design to construction, commissioning and operations.
Advancing a More Proactive Approach to Safety
For SCSP, safety engineering is about anticipating what could go wrong and putting the right measures in place before risks become incidents. This means looking beyond individual equipment, structures or compliance requirements to understand how systems interact, where vulnerabilities may arise and what is needed to manage them effectively.
Across the built environment and other high-risk industries, this proactive approach supports stronger risk management, more reliable operations and better protection for people and assets.
As Technical Director, Antonia represents this commitment to sound engineering practice and the continued advancement of safety as a fundamental consideration in project delivery and operational performance.
A Milestone for Antonia and SCSP
We congratulate Engr. Antonia Beri on this well-deserved recognition and acknowledge NISafetyE for creating a platform that celebrates leadership and professional excellence in safety engineering.
Her award, alongside her recent participation at Big 5 Construct Nigeria, reinforces the importance of technical leadership that goes beyond individual projects to contribute to wider industry progress.
At SCSP, we remain committed to bringing engineering expertise, practical risk insight and a forward-looking approach to the challenges our clients face.
Because safer outcomes begin with the decisions we make, the risks we understand and the standards we are prepared to uphold.
