AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEMS

Automatic Emergency Response Systems refers to self-operated system for monitoring or control of emergency situations. Automatic Emergency Response Systems include fire emergency, security monitoring and response systems, emergency power systems, emergency communication system, conflicts response systems, disaster monitoring and response, and transportation monitoring and control systems.

SAFETY CONSULTANTS & SOLUTION PROVIDERS are leaders in the protection of life, asset, environment, and business continuity in Sub-Saharan Africa. Engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Fire Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Safety, Security Building Management Systems, Technical Safety and Process Safety services.

FIRE EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEMS: Fire emergency response systems entails all the automation systems that monitors and suppresses fires. Automated fire protection systems such as the – automatic deluge, pre-action and foam spray systems. Such systems are useful in building systems, and wildfires. They may be electrically, thermally, or pneumatically actuated to discharge various fire extinguisher like – chemical powder, water, foam, clean agents and carbon dioxide; and they detect elements of fire presence, such as – flame, smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide.

SECURITY MONITORING AND RESPONSE SYSTEMS: Security Monitoring and Response Systems are useful in crime and conflict monitoring and alert management. These include security camera systems, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, and visitor management systems often integrated with a management communication system. Security monitoring and response systems use cameras and display monitor for surveillance, and use security alarm for notification, and integration of consoles and gates to access control systems – such as door controllers, access barriers in forms of security scanners, turnstiles and lifting booms. Intrusion alarm systems detects human movements with motion sensors, and can be programmed to actuate alarms, and control of access and egress by means of automatic locks integrated door controllers. Visitor management systems uses audio speakers, and video to monitor visitors outside a facility or in visitors area. Visitor management systems have integrated bio-metric systems that are useful for crime management via stored information in the history of records in the logs of the security systems.

EMERGENCY POWER SYSTEMS: Emergency Power Systems (Redundant Power Systems) are usually independent power systems for control of critical systems or equipment when there is power shutdown due to an incident or power loss. When a fire incident occurs, the fire alarm system shutdown the general power supply from the shutdown relay. An emergency or redundant power system uses an automatic power transfer switch (ATS) to power systems like security, emergency, and other critical services that cannot afford power loss. It is safer for such redundant power system if already stored with energy in cell technologies as in uninterrupted power supply (UPS) or inverter power systems.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS: Emergency Communication Systems are there for response during emergencies. These may include Public Address and Voice Alarm Systems (PAVA) or Public Address Systems (PAS), or Audio-Visual Systems (AVS) dedicated to emergency response. Automatic alarms such as blasters, and sirens and automatic dialing through voice inputs and outputs, and automatic messaging devices for notification alert during emergencies.

EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS: Emergency Lighting Systems are useful as alternative sources of lighting when there is power outage during emergencies as they usually do not depend on the main power supply. Emergency lights are activated with lighting controls devices such as dimmers, motion sensors, photosensors, occupancy sensors, and relays which powers on or turns off the lights based on environmental conditions and electrical controls.

DISASTER MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS: Disaster Monitoring and Control Systems are basically used in Early Warning Systems (EWS) that senses disasters and alerts the public or authorities. These include the weather monitoring systems that detects windstorms (gale, tornado, hurricane, cyclone and typhoon), heat disasters (heatwaves, global warming and climate change), gas emissions (greenhouse gasses and toxic gasses), rainstorms, snowstorms (showers, squalls, snow fogs, flurries, and blizzards), volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tides, and flooding. Real-time reports are communicated to earth scientists for emergency response such as directing and evacuating the public, and remedial actions.

TRANSPORTATION MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS: Transportation Monitoring and Control Systems are useful in planning remedial actions in transportation management such as alternate transportation routes when there is emergencies in transportation networks by assessment of delay time in each route by use of radar monitoring systems in control towers, road traffic motion or speed limit sensors, satellite based motion sensors, remote sensing or aerial technology for spatial analysis which provides reports or map based results for guiding road traffic, maritime, and aviation transportation networks or routes when emergencies occur or when potential for hazards are sensed.

Automatic Emergency Response Systems monitors, analysis, and reports natural or man-made disasters and hazards in notifies the concerned persons for the purpose of evacuation and remedial actions, while some of such systems suppresses such hazards in small scale scenarios.
